Gogol Bordello is Gypsy folk-punk band. Members are immigrants from Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Ethiopia, Ecuador (and some other nationalities), now they all live in NYC. They sing in multiple languages, have all kinds of instruments and do amazing shows - cabarets. Band started to play in 1999.
Here's their last full length called Super Taranta!
The singer of the band was acting in the movie called Everything Is Illuminated about a Jewish man going to Ukraine to search for a woman who saved his grandfather. Good movie, you should watch it.

Project X
Project X was a straight edge hard core project band in late '80's of Porcell ( Youth Of Today, Judge, now as well Shelter), Schreifels ( Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Of Today...), Siegler ( Side By Side, Youth Of Today, Judge...) and Brown (Gorilla Biscuits, Side By Side). The band started coz Porcell and Brown wanted to include in their zine Schism a 7" with songs of NYC bands, but they couldn't get any so they decided to form a project band to record 5 songs for the 7". And here it is!

Razlog Za
Razlog Za is a legendary hard core band from Croatia. They played old school, with some melodies, with a bit of crust and thrash... Good Eastern European stuff! This band was a big influence for many other ex-Yugoslavian bands. Many played their covers, there's as well tribute to Razlog Za...

Coalesce

Coalesce (from Kansas City) plays kinda chaotic, but very technical hardcore, almost mathcore. Metallic riffs, distorted bass, time and tempo changes, brutal , heavy and noisy. Coalesce!
Here's Give Them Rope, She Said cd (2004), which is remixed and remastered Give Them Rope from '98. And Functioning on Impatience cd. Give Them Rope has the best cover I've ever seen. The artwork is amazing!

Some Girls
This is really interesting band. Features members of so many bands that's hard to count all of them, so I'll mention only few of them : XO Skeletons, The Locust, American Nightmare, Give Up The Ghost, Unbroken, Swing Kids, Holy Molar... seems like those guys played in every San Diego band.
They started to play in 2001 and broke up only few months ago.
Some Girls play mix of hard core, noise core, spastic hard core with chaotic rhythm, and even some grind. Hard to explain...
Here are 2 records. All My Friends Are Going Death (released in 2003) is compilation of 2 EPs, and some unreleased songs. The DNA Will Have It's Say it's EP from 2005. Enjoy! I know you will!

It took 3 years to record this album, but surely the wait has been worth it. 13 songs from this record are very musically diverse, having shifts of moods and styles. Children Of Fall was a Swedish hard core band that started in late 90's after Serene broke up. I can't really describe in few words their music, mainly coz every record is different. The first 2 albums are pretty aggressive and a bit chaotic with big dose of metal. But the last album Bonjour Tristesse is slower and has some of Isis influence. King Ly Chee

And here I present you straight edge band from Hong Kong! The band formed in 1999 and I think I'm not gonna do any mistake saying that it was the first hard core band that started to play in Hong Kong. The music is somehow mix between old school and new school, with lots of melodies and singing along parts. What's as well cool is that the band has a female singer, that surely knows how to scream. In 2003 the band was touring Europe and so far it was the only tour outside Asia.

Time for something crazy. The Locust has this very cool combination of grind core and analog synthesizers, superb performance on the stage, costumes, etc. When I saw them first time, I was amazed! Even though that time didn't know if I love them or hate them. They were just so unusual, new and different. But that was looooong time ago...
As well as far as I remember the drummer was playing on the floor and the rest of the members on the stage...

Betercore

Betercore was a powerviolence/youthcrustcore straight-edge political band from Holland that played between 99-03 or something. Absolutely amazing band! Here's the Youthcrust Discography that I think what the last think that was released.
I really like the fact that they were straight-edge and were against the fanaticism of it, what you can read in the lyrics of SXE But Not An Assole:
Sxe seems good to me
There is nothing wrong with bein’ drugfree
But what’s wrong with your attitude
I will never judge people like you do
Can’t you see it’s all personal
Not an absolute truth
If you are not able to respect someone
Drop out is what you should
Sxe, but not an asshole
If you judge people it’s your own fault
If you don’t like that someone drinks
You are the one with a problem
Of course it’s ok not to drink
But it’s also ok to do
Anyways, here it is for you. Enjoy!

This was the first South Korean band that went on tour. The Geeks toured the US last year and seems like the fans of traditional straight-edge hardcore consider that band as Asia's version of Youth Of Today.
From what I know most of the bands in South Korea play metal so it's really cool to have The Geeks that play this happy music and shines among the metal heads.

New Winds

New Winds was great political vegan Straight Edge band from Portugal. They played passionate old style hard core, sorta in spirit of 4 Walls Falling... For me personally, this is live band. I'm not saying that their records are bad but shows are so good, harder, stronger and filled with so much energy. This record comes along with 170-page book with all the lyrics of the band, explanations, writings of political prisoners, articles, poems, contributions about politics, injustice, culture of resistance, animal liberation and other important issues. For this band hardcore/punk is not only music.
The fact that they speak out loud about their views brought on them lots of critics especially from Germany, coz the band is pro - Palestinian and as we all know, Germany is filled with anti-Deutch, so lots of their shows were canceled in Germany...

Once upon a time there was a band called Catharsis. After Catharsis came to the point that the band should't exist anymore, members of the band created another band, called Requiem, playing anarcho crust punk. "The Latino punk scene in the early '90s really exploded because all of a sudden we had a hell of a lot to sing about. What started happening politically in the U.S. pissed us off so much, and we were feeling targeted and we were feeling so cornered as a community that we began writing songs about it."-Martin Sorrondeguy

Severed Head Of State
Since I already posted Tragedy and From Ashes Rise, it's time for Severed Head Of State, that is connected to Tragedy thru Todd Burdette, the guitarplayer of Tragedy. I think that this band doesn't need too much introduction either, so I'll just post "No Lost Love" 7" EP from 2001 and "An Invitation To A Beheading: 1998–2001 Discography" from 2002.
Btw, did you hear about the singer getting stabbed by a drunk punk during the show in Austin, while he was trying to end a fight (in 2006)?

I'm sure you know that band so I won't be writing a lot about them.
Just post here 3 record for all of us to enjoy.

So, they're from Portland, Oregon. Band was formed by guys from His Hero Is Gone, Deathreat, Severed Head Of State, From Ashes Rise and others....
I'm posting here 3 records : Tragedy from 2000, Vengeance from 2002 and Nerve Damage from 2006, so far the last release.
Enjoy!! I do.

Final Exit
Another band from Umea, Sweden (don't mix it up with a grind core band from Japan that has the same name). Final Exit was sorta joke-band of guys from Refused, even though what they played was amazing! For really long time (guess for the whole time of their existence), they were hiding their personalities, using different names and pretending they have nothing to do with Refused. They started in early '90s (but seems like the idea of the band appeared in late '80s), and Teg is the first record, from '94.
The music is raw, fast and brutal at the same time.
so here it is for you: Final Exit - Teg!

D.S. 13

Time for another band from Sweden! Demon System 13 comes from the same city as Refused or Cult Of Luna,Umea. In the '90s there was the best scene, the best bands were coming from there... so sad that this is over.... so few bands stayed, so few are formed...
So, I'm gonna stay in the '90s again.
D.S. 13 started in 1995, played thrashy fast hard core and had crazy shows! This band was one of the best those days, no doubt in that!
I post here 2 records : "For The Kids, Not The Business" from '98 and "Vad Vet Vi Om Kriget?" from 2000.

Chokehold

Chokehold's anarchist sxe vegan band from Canada. Started to play in 1990. I consider them as interesting band, coz they were very political and speaking up about their views and opinions, even though they were very criticized for it. Being pro-choice, strongly anti-religious and anti-homophobia was the opposite of what most of the sxe vegan bands were standing for those days, being influenced by hardline.
So I decided to post here "Life Goes On"EP from 1992, "Instilled" EP from 1994 and "Content With Dying" LP from 1995.
I suggest you to read their lyrics here, especially lyrics of "Instilled".
Enjoy!

Contra La Contra

Contra La Contra was very political anarcho punk band from Belarus, that started to play about 10 years ago. They were one of the first politcal bands. You should know that then (guess it's untill now) was very difficult and dengerous to speak up against the government and the Belarusian reality. They did.
They had quite long tour around Europe (that's how I met them), playing wonderful shows and spearding the information about what's going on in Belarus.
Unfortunately I can't find anywhere the pic of the cover of their LP, that I'm posting here, but my memorty tells me that it was red and with the coke font was written the name of the band...
And I can't find any lyrics either... :(
So, enjoy it!

1000 Travelers of Jawaharlal
When I heard of 1000 Travelers of Jawaharlal coming to Europe I was very excited coz I love Japanese bands. Most of them are totally crazy and very good.
This trio plays a bit... I could say, a bit differently than the bands that make Japanese scene famost. The music is emotional, but energetic with screaming vocals. Has the spirit of bands from D.C. from the '90s...

Pirómanos Del Ritmo

I heard that band not long time ago, but they definitely caught my ears and I wanna post them here. But more than that I really wanna see them live. I'm guessing that this is amazing band that does unforgettable shows. 3 insane singers, playing in masks, sometimes dressing up... must be intense!
Pirómanos Del Ritmo are from Chile, playing something between crust, grind and hard core.
As far as I know they had some demo recorded, but “Nosotros tenemos el fuego” is their first cd and that's what I'm posting.

Los Crudos
Another band that I don't think I have to introduce. So again, only few words... Los Crudos was political band formed in early 90s, the singer formed another band Limp Writs...
blah blah blah...you know all of it ....
Anyways, I post here the discography, 74 songs. I'm sure you'll love it!

Abuso Sonoro

Time for something from South America. Abuso Sonoro's political, anarchist crust/thrash/hard core band with female singer from Brazil, that started to play in early '90s. They released quite a lot of stuff but most of it is splits 7"EPs.
"Herencia" is the only 12" which is not a split. But I post as well 2 split 7" EPs, one with Detestation and one with Autoritar.

Judge

So, I'm staying in the '80s. I wonder how many people are gonna hate me for that post, but you know what? I don't care.
This is another band that brings shit loads of memories. It was the first sxe band that I ever heard and thru them I first time actually heard about sxe. And it was funny to realize that I'm one of them. hahaha
No, no. I never called myself sxe but coz these days there were only 2 sxe guys (at least I knew only 2) they desperately wanted me to be in their crew, as well coz I was the only girl...
But this is another, long and boring story.
Judge's from New York. Started to play in '88, formed by guys from Youth Of Today, Gorilla Biscuits and some other bands. That time it was like here- one guy played in 3 or 4 bands....
Anyways, Judge had really millitant sxe lyrics, what you can check here, what brought on them lots of criticism.
Those guys are legends. They formed so many other bands, that it's really hard to count.
Ok, ok... so here is the first 7' EP called "New York Crew" and the first full length called "Chung King Can Suck It" what appeared in Europe as bootleg "No Apologies".

R.A.M.B.O.

R.A.M.B.O. was from Philly. Not many bands have such crazy and intense shows as they did. At almost every show they were dressed up, and the crowd was too, as well they were making big tanks or any other kinda funny stuff and all that was later flying in the air, thorn in pieces by crazy fans. I think there was never anyone just standing still while Rambo played. It was simply impossible. You wanted or not the vibrations of the show dragged you in.
R.A.M.B.O. was a sxe, vegan, anarchist, crust, thrash, bike punk band. The bass player was before in Policy Of Three and 400 years, if you ever heard of them.
Last show was on May 27 2007. Sad, but true. "Wall Of Death The System" 's first album, "Bring it!" is the second album.

At The Drive-In

At The Drive-In is a post-hardcore band from El Paso, Texas, that started to play in 1993. Some time in late '90s they came to Europe. Then I wasn't really into this all progresive rock stuff, but damn, they got me. I so much loved the show, the sound they made and all the performance on the stage... No words to explain. It was fantastic! I fell in love!
They had their own style, that later many bands copied and tried their best to be like ATDI.
After the band broke up in 2001, 2 other bands started - Mars Volta and Spatra. As well there was a reggae band De Facto that 2 guys from ATDI had while the band was existing.
Couldn't chose between "In Casino Out" and "Relationship Of Command", which one is my favorite, so I'm posting both. You chose which one you like more... I love both albums. They released one more full length and many 7"s, EPs and splits.

The Spectacle

The Spectacle is from Norway. The music's very passionate and powerful, having some crust, doom and instrumental parts. Someone said that it's Neurosis meeting Godspeed You!Black Emperor. Maybe...
"The Rope Or Gillotine" is the first record.

Forever Positively Obsessed

FxPxOx is old school thrashy punk, sxe band from Macedonia. This band fucking rules!!
They recorded several demo tapes, splits 7" (with Seein' Red, I Object!, Sectret 7 and more) and cds. I found this demo tape from 2002. And I as well wanna post here the cd "The only dead end is refusing to see a way out " that contains splits with My Revenge and Secret 7+ comp. tracks.
3 guys from FxPxOx have another band This Home Is Orepared, that plays a bit different kinda music, more Tragedy like, and has 2 vocals, girl and a guy... you can check it here.

Ewa Braun

I finally found "Love Peace Noise", the first record of Ewa Braun! Oh, so many memories came back with that record! It was my favorite cd, but after listening to "Esion" again, I think I like it more than lovepeacenoise now.
Ewa Braun is from Poland, started to play in 1990. Uhh, long time ago...That time in Poland were not many bands playing noise connected with trans, emotions and experiments, with improvisation. If I'm not mistaken there was only Guernica Y Luno in the late '80s - beginning early '90s playing similar kinda music."Love Peace Noise" is from '94 and it's first full length. Before the band recorded 2 tapes. "Esion" is the 2nd album, from '96. And "Stereo" is the last one, 5th, from 2002.
Ewa Braun's very political band, what you can find out reading their lyrics (the lyrics are all in Polish, but I posted them in English here ). Well, now we have only this left, but I still remember them being involved in lots of things, so those are not only words they wrote...
By the way, if the name Ewa Braun is any familiar to you, maybe coz it was Hitler's lover (became wife right before the suicide). I don't remember anymore why the band decided to have that name...
So, I'm posting here 3 records...

Sweep The Leg Johnny

Sweep The Leg Johnny comes from Chicago. It's very original and has crazy structures of the songs. Someone said about Sweep "a bulldozer jamming with philharmonic orchestra". And I agree. Chaotic, constantly changing but synchronized, having lots of saxophone, that's Sweep.
Here is the last album they recorded, "Goin' Down Swinging".

108

How much I love bands from the '90s... I think those years were the best if it goes for music, bands, shows... I miss that time. I miss those bands.
108 is one of the bands. They stareted in '92. Their shows were incredibly intense and "exotic", since 108 is a Krishna band. So, they appeared on the stage wearing saffron dhotois and chanting mantras. But the music isn't soft as everyone could expect. It's loud, heavy, angry and fast.
They played for about 4 years, releasing 3 albums and some other stuff. "Songs of Separation" is my favorite record from that period, even though I really like all they ever made. Luckily in 2005 they started to play again and "A New Beat From A Dead Heart" is what they recorded. This time they don't look like Krishna devotees, even though still have it in their hearts.

HeroDishonest
Time for something from Finland. Hero Dishonest is one damn crazy band!! Maybe even the most crazy Finnish band I know. You would understand easily what I'm talking about when you'd see them on stage and as well smell them. :)
Very fast thrashy punk, with 2 insane vocals...
As you all probably already noticed I'm very bad in describing music, so you just gotta listen to it
"Juggernaut" is 2nd full length, from 2002. Thye have 3 more albums and some 7" and splits.
This band will make you smile!

Trial
Trial's from Seattle, started to play in'94, after decade of playing they decided that it's over, but 2 years ago they made 3 reunion shows, only THREE!! Guess it's easier to do only 3 shows than the whole tour, especially that those were only shows Trial wanted to play. No more. Probably never...
It's very political, sxe vegan band (there's not many of these in the States, though),with strong message. The lyrics are excellent, what you can check here.
"Are these our lives?" is from 1999, I think it's best record.

I Shot Cyrus
I Shot Cyrus is sxe political band from Brazil. The members are from Point Of No Return and Newspeak. I Shot Cyrus doesn't play any metal stuff as previous bands did, but plays fast, forward thrashy punk and it's awasome!! So, you really should listen to that!
Here's the discography and the album (that isn't on the discography) Assassinicus. You're gonna enjoy it, no doubt!

Kafka
And another one of my favorite bands. Kafka is from Genova, Italy. "The will" is last record, coz unfortunately they broke up about 2 years ago. But now there's a new band called Stalker, even though they play different music, more Isis-like. Kafka has it's very own style, that makes it special. Very good, often personal lyrics screamed in Italian and amazing drumming... Wonderful shows... wonderful people... wonderful band!So sad I won't see Kafka on stage anymore.

Lvmen

Lvmen is my another favorite band and another band that brings lots of memories. The time when I was booking tours for them and was traveling with them was probably my best period. Lvmen is from Czech rep. "Raison d'etre" is my most loved album. They recorded 12" (which was the first stuff they've put up) and "Mondo", which is the last album and was recorded with new line up. Lvmen is influenced by ISIS and Neurosis, what you can hear here and there but still it's kept in the Lvmen's spirit.

Zegota

Zegota from Greensboro, USA is defilitely my favorite band. Love not only their music but every one of them. Surely the best band I know.
Reclaim! is their 3rd full length album and was recorded in Sweden. This album is one whole amazing piece of music, every song is connected with another one. You can hear a lot of African elements combined with Zegota's punk, as well as some piano.
This record is very emotional and has a little bit different spirit than the other 2 records Zegota made ( 1st was s/t and 2nd was Namaste).
Hope you'll enjoy it. If you wanna hear the other 2 records, let me know, so I'll post it here as well.
